Holi is one the most popular festival of India, Popularly know as the Festival of Colours. Holi is the religious Festival of Hindu which is celebrated all over India. This festival is celebrated in the month of phalgun. In hill areas Holi is celebrated for five days while in plains areas it is celebrated for 2 days, The first day is Choti Holi which is Holika Dahan and the next day is all about fun, playing with colours, eating delicious food and meeting with friends, family and relatives.


Date and Timing



The date and Timing of Holi varies in Hindu calendar every year. Holi is mostly celebrated in the month of march- april. In 2019 Holika Dahan is on 20th march and Holi is on 21st march. The holi Celebration starts in the evening with bonfire , the first day is for Holika Dahan while the Second day is celebrated with colours, water and eating delicious food items.

How it is Celebrated ?



Well! Holi is one of the most precious festival of Hindu which is filled with lots of love and fun. Holi is the festival that is celebrated in different parts of the country at different ways . Before lightning up bonfire, Pooja is performed by women for the prosperity and good health of there family. On holika dahan day people gather together and a statue of Holika had been made before which is filled with lots of crackers. On that day people near bonfire Sings, beat drums and dance together and at last the statue of Holika is being destroyed. The day after Holika dahan its all about fun, food, music and dance. In north India the day is Celebrated with Colours ,Water filled balloons. In uttar pradesh people play it as Lathmaar Holi, beating men with sticks. Gujiyas, bhang pakodas, laddoos etc food items are prepared in the houses. Bhang lassi , Bhang pakodas Bhang khulfi are the special items of Holi.

Why Holi is Celebrated?



Holi is celebrated in the remembrance of Holika. This festival is also known as Holika dahan because in order to fulfill the wish of his brother Hirankashpu, holika tried to sit on fire and burned herself. Holika's brother Hirankashpu was a very cruel king and he don't want anyone to worship God but his son Prahlad was devotee to God. To punish his son he decided to make him burn on fire , to fulfill this wish he decided to take help of his sister Holika and she was blessed that she can not burn in fire. so they decided to sit on fire with lapping prahlad and thought holika will alive and prahlad will die but happened just opposite! In this remembrance Holika dahan is Celebrated.

   Holi is the festival of hindu and it is celebrated every year in the month of march- april .This is the festival of India and nepal which is celebrated mostly in every countries where ever indians live.This is the festival of colours which is celebrated in every region of india with great joy.

   In this day people plays holi with colours and throw water on each other, this day we meet everyone, hugs , apply abeer (a kind of colour) in everyone forehead. we sing religious songs with religious instrument like Dhol,kirtal etc.

   At this special day we eat delicious food like gujiya, bhang ki lassi, bhang ke pakode, aloo ke gutke,sweets etc.


Why we Celebrate holi ?


   Every Festival has a very cute story behind of Celebration, likewise holi has a story of its celebration. There was a king named hirankashpu who was very powerful. 


   He was very cruel king , he has arrogance in his power,he don't won't anyone to worship God, but he has a son named "prahlad" who was strong believer of God and having soft spot for god but his father did not like his soft corner towards God and told him not to worship God but his son is strong believer of God and had not listened to his father. 


    One day his father thought to punish him and he had taken help of his sister named "Holika" who had power that she can not burn in fire,so prahlad father decided that he will put him on his sister lap and will force them to sit on fire and thought that holika will alive and his son will die but surprisingly happen opposite, so for this reason this festival is also know as holika dahan. 


How holi Celebrated in different regions of India?

    Holi is a precious occasion of Indian and this festival is celebrated with great joy in different part of India. In west bengal people celebrate with dhol jtra while singing and dancing , south india people worship God "kamdev", while in Uttarakhand it is celebrated as kumaoni holi with religious song like chanchri etc.

होली रंगो का त्यौहार है जो हर साल बसंत ऋतु के मास मनाया जाता है।  प्रमुख रूप से ये त्यौहार भारत और नेपाल में  मनाया जाता है। यह  त्यौहार विश्व भर के कई देशों में भी बड़ी धूम धाम से मनाया जाता है मुख्यतः जंहा भारतीय निवास करते है । रंगो का ये त्यौहार पहाड़ी इलाको (उत्तराखण्ड ) मे पांच दिन का मनाया जाता है। इस पावन अवसर  को सभी अपने प्रियजनों , मित्रों और परिवार के लोगो से साथ मिलकर मानते हैं। होली के इस त्यौहार को सभी रंगो के साथ खेलते है , इस दिन सभी एक दूसरे को रंग लगाते है और पानी से भीगाते है
इस दिन सभी अपने घरों को सजाते हैं और अच्छे-अच्छे पकवान बनाते है।  इस पर्व को बड़े हर्ष और उल्लाश  के साथ मनाया जाता है।


क्यों मनाई जाती है होली ?

जैसा की आप सब जानते है किसी भी पर्व को मनाने के पीछे कोई न कोई कहानी, इतिहास छुपा  होता  है। जी हाँ इसके पीछे भी इतिहास है प्रह्लाद का।  माना जाता है प्राचीन काल मैं हिरण्यकशिपु  नाम का एक असुर था जो काफी बलशाली था। उसे अपनी शक्ति मैं इतना घमंड हो गया था कि वो खुद को ही भगवान मानने लग गया  था।  वो चाहता था कि हर कोई  उसे भगवान माने और उसकी पूजा करे, ना की जो सच के भगवान है उनकी ।  उसने अपने राज्य में भगवान का नाम लेने में पाबंदी लगा दी थी।  लेकिन उसका पुत्र प्रह्लाद भगवान का भक्त था। हिरण्यकशिपु अपने पुत्र की भक्ति को देखकर काफी परेशान हो गया था , उसने प्रह्लाद को कई बार रोकने की कोशिश की लेकिन वो असफल रहा।  उसने प्रह्लाद को कठोर दंड देने की सोची।  उसने दण्डित करने के लिए अपनी बहन होलिका का सहारा लिया जिसे वरदान प्राप्त था की वो आग में नहीं जल सकती।  तो हिरण्यकशिपु ने प्रह्लाद को दण्डित करने के लिए उसे अपनी बहन के खोद में रखकर आग में बिठा दिया ये सोच के की उसका पुत्र जल जायेगा लेकिन हुआ इसका विपरीत उसकी बहन होलिका जल गयी और उसका पुत्र नहीं , इसीलिए इस पावन त्योहार को होलिका दहन के रूप में मानते हैं।

इसलिए कहा जाता है हमेशा 

"अच्छाई की जीत होती है और बुराई का अंत "


How Holi celebrated in different regions of India? ( भारत के अलग अलग जगहों पर होली कैसे मनाई जाती है ?

भारत में हर जगहों पे होली अलग-अलग प्रकार से मनाई जाती है। वेस्ट बंगाल में  ढोल जात्रा  के साथ गाना और नाचना के रूप मे मनाया जाता है ,साउथ इंडिया के लोग कामदेव की पूजा करते हैं और उत्तराखंड मैं कुमाऊनी होली के रूप में मनाया जाता है।यदि आप सच पे होली का आनंद लेना चाहते है तो आप उत्तर प्रदेश में मथुरा जा सकते हैं वंहा होली का पर्व बड़ी धूम धाम से मनाया जाता है , शायद ही भारत में कंही और इतने हर्षो उल्लाश के साथ मनाई जाती होगी।
