Holi is the festival of hindu and it is celebrated
every year in the month of march- april .This is the festival of India and
nepal which is celebrated mostly in every countries where ever indians
live.This is the festival of colours which is celebrated in every region of
india with great joy.
In this day people
plays holi with colours and throw water on each other, this day we meet
everyone, hugs , apply abeer (a kind of colour) in everyone forehead. we sing
religious songs with religious instrument like Dhol,kirtal etc.
At this special day we eat delicious food like
gujiya, bhang ki lassi, bhang ke pakode, aloo ke gutke,sweets etc.
Why we Celebrate
holi ?
Every Festival has a very cute story behind of
Celebration, likewise holi has a story of its celebration. There was a king
named hirankashpu who was very powerful.
He was very cruel king , he has arrogance in
his power,he don't won't anyone to worship God, but he has a son named
"prahlad" who was strong believer of God and having soft spot for god
but his father did not like his soft corner towards God and told him not to
worship God but his son is strong believer of God and had not listened to his
father.
One day his father thought to punish
him and he had taken help of his sister named "Holika" who had power
that she can not burn in fire,so prahlad father decided that he will put him on
his sister lap and will force them to sit on fire and thought that holika will
alive and his son will die but surprisingly happen opposite, so for this reason
this festival is also know as holika dahan.
How holi
Celebrated in different regions of India?
Holi is a precious occasion of
Indian and this festival is celebrated with great joy in different part of
India. In west bengal people celebrate with dhol jtra while singing and dancing
, south india people worship God "kamdev", while in Uttarakhand it is
celebrated as kumaoni holi with religious song like chanchri etc.
